How 80% faster ESG reporting enhanced customer experience for BreatheESG.
BreatheESG · Sustainability SaaS
Dashboards built on Python libraries took three months and could not do row-level security. We rebuilt them on QuickSight in two weeks.

The opportunity
A reporting product where every dashboard was a three-month build.
BreatheESG helps corporates, nonprofits and NGOs automate ESG reporting across 5,000+ material topics from the leading frameworks. The analytics behind that ran on Python visualisation libraries-which made row-level security and per-tenant data segregation complex to implement and easy to get wrong.
Building a dashboard that way was inefficient, and the analytics were not comprehensive enough for fine-grained metrics. The complexity pushed development time to three months per dashboard, slowing time-to-market on the product's core value.
Python libraries for visualisation
Dashboarding was hand-built rather than configured.
Row-level security was complex
Keeping each tenant to their own data took bespoke work every time.
Filtering per business rule
Data segregation had to be reimplemented per requirement.
Analytics were not fine-grained
The output could not reach the metric detail the product promised.
The impact
Three months of dashboard work became two weeks.
QuickSight instead of hand-built
Dashboards track ESG metrics and evaluate performance against regulatory limits as configuration, not code.
Row-level security by default
User- and tag-based rules mean each tenant sees only their own data without bespoke work.
Multi-tenant warehouse
One analytics foundation serves every customer rather than a variant per account.
5x faster decisions
Embedded dashboards with single sign-on put the metric in front of the role that acts on it.
The stack
What it runs on.
- Analytics platform
- Amazon QuickSight
- Access control
- QuickSight row-level security, user- and tag-based rules
- Data layer
- Multi-tenant data warehouse for ESG analytics
- Embedding
- In-application dashboards with role-based single sign-on
The road ahead
The reporting layer holds. Next is what it can answer.
With row-level security and multi-tenancy handled by the platform rather than by hand, new frameworks and metrics are additions to a working foundation instead of another three-month build.
- 01
More ESG frameworks covered
- 02
Deeper regulatory-limit evaluation
- 03
Self-serve metric configuration
